Job Summary
We are seeking a Clinical Home Healthcare & Pharmacy Support Specialist to perform a dual role supporting both home healthcare services and regulated pharmacy operations within a community pharmacy that is also an Assistive Devices Program (ADP) authorized home healthcare vendor.
Because the pharmacy provides both regulated pharmacy services and specialized home healthcare medical device services, candidates must have experience in a community pharmacy environment AND demonstrated practical experience or training in home healthcare, including patient assessment, measurement, or medical device support.
This position is not suitable for candidates with experience in only one area. The successful candidate must be able to support pharmacy workflow under pharmacist supervision while also assisting patients with the assessment, fitting, and documentation of home healthcare products and medical devices.
WAGE: $36.00 per hour
HOURS: 30-40 hours per week (Must be willing to work weekends)

Duties & Responsibilities
Home Healthcare and Medical Device Support
- Conduct patient assessments prior to recommending compression garments, braces, mastectomy prosthetics, wound care supplies, and continence products
- Take accurate anatomical measurements to determine appropriate product sizing and therapeutic suitability
- Assist patients with the selection, fitting, and adjustment of compression garments, lymphedema products, and mastectomy prostheses
- Educate patients and caregivers on the proper use, care, and maintenance of medical devices and home healthcare equipment
Assistive Devices Program (ADP) Documentation
- Prepare and submit Assistive Devices Program (ADP) documentation and claims for eligible medical devices
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with OCP and Ministry of Health standards
- Ensure patient confidentiality and regulatory compliance
Interdisciplinary Healthcare Collaboration
- Communicate with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, physicians, nurse practitioners, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists regarding patient care needs
- Support continuity of care by coordinating product recommendations and documentation with the healthcare team
- Ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with applicable healthcare regulations and privacy standards
Pharmacy and Operational Support
- Assist pharmacists with prescription preparation tasks under supervision including labeling, packaging and workflow support
- Operate pharmacy automation and compliance packaging equipment such as BD SynMed, McKesson PacMed/PacVision, ScriptPro, or similar pharmacy automation systems
- Maintain accurate patient documentation in accordance with Ontario College of Pharmacists and Ministry of Health standards
Administrative and Patient Service Support
- Process patient orders and documentation for medical devices and pharmacy services including rental and supply coordination where applicable
- Assist with billing and reimbursement processes involving private insurance plans and provincial programs such as Ontario Drug Benefit, ODSP, OW, IFHP, and Trillium Drug Program
- Provide patient-focused service and support to individuals and caregivers in a healthcare setting, including individuals with disabilities or complex care needs
Requirements
Education
- Completion of a Pharmacy Assistant or equivalent pharmacy assistant training and experience.
- Completion of structured training in compression therapy, mastectomy fitting, wound care, or continence support
Experience
Pharmacy Experience (Required)
- Experience working in a community or retail pharmacy environment
- Experience supporting prescription processing and pharmacy workflow under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Experience using a pharmacy management system (such as Kroll/Telus Health Solutions or similar)
- Experience assisting with medication packaging, dispensing workflow, and pharmacy automation systems
Home Healthcare Experience (Required)
- Experience assisting patients with home healthcare products or medical devices such as compression garments, braces, wound care supplies, continence products, mobility devices, or similar therapeutic products
- Experience providing patient instruction on the use and care of medical devices or therapeutic products
- Experience supporting documentation or reimbursement processes for healthcare products or programs, such as the Assistive Devices Program (ADP)
Certifications and Training
PHARMACY-BASED TRAINING
- Completed/currently enrolled in a Canadian Pharmacy Assistant/Technician Course
- Good working knowledge of the Pharmacy Management System Kroll/Telus Health Solutions, including prescription entry, data verification and drug packaging
- Experience operating pharmacy automation and compliance packaging equipment, such as BD Synmed Automation Machine, McKesson PacMed and PacVision machines, and ScriptPro Vial-Filling machine
- Basic Level A Compounding Training
HOME HEALTHCARE-BASED TRAINING
- Training or experience assisting patients with medical devices, compression products, or home healthcare equipment
- Customer Service for Vulnerable Population and those with Disabilities (Accessibility Training)
- Certification in compression therapy, mastectomy fitting and/or lymphedema fitting
- ADP technician support for Mobility devices
- Knowledge of wound care, ostomy and continence products
CUSTOMER SERVICE / ADMINISTRATIVE / HEALTHCARE BILLING (ADP, INSURANCE) & SPECIAL REIMBURSEMENT TRAINING
- Training/Knowledge on 3rd party insurance reimbursement programs including private insurance, Federal Programs (IFHP) and Provincial Drug Programs (Ontario Drug Benefit, ODSP/OW/Trillium)
- Familiarity with POS systems and integration with accounting software (e.g., Quickbooks)
- Heartland PCAmerica Cash Register Express POS, including Rental Tables, Pricing Tables, Quotes, Work Orders, and Invoicing
- Working knowledge of Financial Support Streams and experience with Patient Support Programs, Charities and Federal and Provincial Government Support Programs
- Language English – proficient reading and writing

- Work must be completed on site. Remote work is not available.
SUPERVISION
- May assist with training and coordinating the work of healthcare support staff or pharmacy assistants
